Born in Lewiston on December 18, 1919, she was the daughter of the late Anna and Charles Deringis. She was raised and educated in Lisbon. After graduation she worked at the Bates Mill and later at Raytheon in Lewiston.
An Auburn resident for many years, Helen has been a member of the Phillipian Seniors at St. Phillip’s Church, the First Auburn Seniors, the Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary and the Lithuanian Heritage Club in Rumford.
Helen was married to Kenneth E. Merrow on April 15, 1939. Together they built their home and raised their family in Auburn. They enjoyed skiing, fishing, snowmobiling, and travel. Many wonderful times were enjoyed at the family cottage in western Maine.
Helen is survived by her daughter, Lynda Dodge of Danvers, MA, her daughter-in-law, Gayle McDevitt of Rumford, grandsons Stephen Merrow of Rumford, Aric Merrow and his wife, Nicole of Orrington, and three great grandchildren, Brooke Merrow, Allie Merrow and Christopher Merrow, her dear friend and sister-in-law, Ruth Deringis of Lewiston, and many nieces, nephews, and friends. She was predeceased by her son, David C. Merrow, sisters Anne Petru, and Emma Deringis, brothers Anthony Deringis and John Deringis, and son-in-law Edmund Dodge.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, May 4, 2018 at 11am at St. Philips Church in Auburn. A committal will take place at Mt. Hope Cemetery for immediate family at a later date.
