

Minot - Mr. Herbert Arthur Cooper age 76, died on April 11 2012 with his wife Pam at his side after a short courageous battle with cancer. Born December 28, 1935, in Englewood, New Jersey, son of Auburn and Albertina (Edrehi) Cooper. At the age of 11, he and his family moved to Braintree, Vermont. He served with pride in the United States Marine Corps from 1953-1957. After his military service he and his previous wife, Virginia, moved back to Vermont and then settled in California. In California he started his career with Johns Manville. After 11 years, he had a desire to return to his New England roots. Herb retired from Johns Manville Lewiston, Maine office in 1994. He was a very active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints from his baptism in 1958 until his death. Herb loved books, with a special joy of history, which he shared with all. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed the woods and the ocean. Herb also had a great love of sports and attended many local sporting events for his children and grandchildren. Herb loved music and began to play the guitar 1995. He loved spending time with his family, his wife, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Survivors include his wife Pamela (Welch) Cooper of Minot, Their children: Sherre (Cooper) Moreau and husband Richard of Lewiston, Christopher Cooper and wife Emily of Poland, and Jennifer Cooper of Auburn. His children: Steven Cooper & wife Lillian of Auburn, Jeffrey Cooper and wife Susan of Poland, Matthew Cooper and wife Margret of Draper, Utah, Daniel Cooper and wife Michelle of Oxford, Marianne (Cooper) Mason and husband Dennis of Lewiston, Rachelle (Cooper) Power and husband Jason of Minot, and their mother Virginia (Flint) Cooper. He is also survived by 21 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren with Taya due at the end of April. He is also survived by two brothers, Frank Cooper and Sybil of Honeyville, Utah, and Albert Cooper and wife Shirley of Hurricane, Utah. He was predeceased by his older brother Auburn F. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2:00 PM at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Maple Hill Road, Auburn with visitation at the church Saturday from 12:30 PM till 1:30 PM.
