Jeannette (Turgeon) Gagne, 101, of Waldo, ME, formerly of Auburn, passed away on October 6th at the Harbor Hill Center in Belfast, ME.
Born in Duluth, MN, February 11, 1921, Jeannette was the daughter of Emily and Frank Turgeon. Shortly after her birth the family moved to Lewiston, ME. She attended Lewiston schools and married Normand Gagne on June 6, 1942. She was a homemaker for several years then worked 21 years at General Electric in Auburn.
In retirement she enjoyed traveling with friends and relatives who belonged to the Robin Dow and the Auburn Senior Citizen clubs, flower gardening, reading, and cheering on the Red Sox.
In 2019, she moved to Waldo, ME to live with her daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and Walter Whitcomb.
Besides Nancy and Walter, Jeannette is survived by her son, Norm (aka “Coach”) Gagne and his wife Ronda of Westbrook; sister, Rosalie Feeney of Portland, OR; grandson, Joel Whitcomb and his wife Nicole of Harrisburg, NC; granddaughters Carrie Whitcomb and her partner Eben Miller of Waldo; Holly Whitcomb of Morrill, ME; Leah Kieley and her husband Doug of Westbrook, ME; and Jessa Gagne and her husband Danny Esten of Rehoboth, MA; great-grandchildren Jayden, Lucas and Landon Whitcomb; Hannah Kieley; Liam and Colby Thomas; Maverick and Lily Esten; brother-in-law, Donald Bilodeau; and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband Normand; sisters Virginia Bouchard, Dorothy Bilodeau and Lorraine Turgeon; Brothers, Alfred Turgeon and James Ouellette; and grandsons Jeffrey Gagne and Ross Thomas.
The family thanks the staff in the Fort Point Long Term Care Unit at the Harbor Hill Center, the Beacon Hospice staff, and the staff at the Waldo County General Hospital for her care over the past few months.
A mass will be held on Thursday, October 13th at 11AM, in St. Phillips Church, 2365 Turner Rd, Auburn, with burial to follow at St. Peter's Cemetery.
