John Francis Jalbert

On July 25, 2026, John F. Jalbert of Auburn, Maine, passed away at the age of 76 from a very brief and unexpected illness with liver cancer, while surrounded by his family and loved ones at Androscoggin Home Hospice (now Andwell) as he peacefully joined and was greeted by many family members and pets on the other side of Heaven.

John was born in Columbus, Georgia on June 5, 1950 as the son of Emilio Jean Jalbert and Violet Anne (Greerling) Jalbert. He was a 1969 Edward Little high School graduate where he met the one-and-only love of his life, Connie (Audet) Jalbert at the age of 16 who he married 3 years later on February 14, 1970. He went on to join the Coast Guard, came home and worked as a carpenter with his father until 1988, at which point he moved on to working in maintenance at Liberty Mutual where he retired in 2008 at the age of 58.

John's pride and joy was his wife, his children, grandchildren, and now great-grandchildren of whom he enjoyed playing with and going and seeing all of their sporting events over the years. Over his lifetime he enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing and coaching softball, going to the casino, watching the Red Sox, family functions and gatherings, going to Town & Country in NH each year with family for decades, spending weekends up at camp on the lake during most of his adult life as well as spending 3 weeks every October on Anna Maria Island, FL with countless family and close friends for many decades. His most recent true joy was spending time with and playing on the floor with his two Great Grandsons Oakland Gagne (4) and Avery Jalbert (3). His biggest wish was to live long enough to watch them grow up and to make sure they remember him. He was a true family man and his family was his everything!

If you needed something fixed that seemed unfixable, he would always come up with a way to fix it. Though it was not usually the conventional way, but a way that he brainstormed and made up. If you needed something he was always there to help whether it was filling your car tire up with air, changing the tire, jump starting your car, helping fix things at your house or helping you build your house.

For decades he would buy weekly lottery tickets in hopes of winning big and not just for himself, he would talk often about how he would be giving each family member a portion to help make them financially comfortable.

He is survived by his wife Connie Jalbert, his 2 children, son David Jalbert and daughter Angie Jalbert (and boyfriend Bee-Jay Moreau). His 5 Grandchildren, Dylan Jalbert (and wife Therese Jalbert), Cameron Gagne (and Fiance Kaylee Gorey), Taylor Jalbert, Ashlyn Jalbert (and boyfriend Matt Brown), Olivia Jalbert and his 2 Great Grandchildren Oakland Gagne and Avery Jalbert.

His sister Jane LaPlante (and her husband Bert LaPlante), sister Becky Stevens (and husband Bill Stevens), brother Jack Jalbert, sister Julia Jalbert, sister Jenny Buildeau (and husband Mike Buildeau), his mother-in-law Vinese Audet, sister in-law Diane Fisher, brother-in-law Bobby Audet (and wife Marsha** Audet), brother-in-law Paul Audet (and wife Norma Jean Audet), brother-in-law Larry Audet and many, many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and close friends who are like family, all of whom he loved dearly.

He is predeceased by his parents, - Emilio Jean Jalbert and Violet Anne Jalbert as well as one brother, Jean Jalbert (and wife Donna Jalbert).

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Visitation for John on Friday, August 7th from 11AM to 1PM at The Fortin & Pinette Group Funeral Home, 217 Turner Street Auburn, ME 04210, with a Liturgy of the Word to follow at 1PM.
