1960-2025
AUBURN-John Semetauskis, 64, better known as Dad and Grampy passed away at his home, Thursday May 15, 2025.
The oldest of two, John was born on July 24, 1960, in Lewiston, ME to the late Robert “Bob” Semetauskis and Lorraine Pepin and attended the local schools.
In his early years, John lived in California with his first wife and daughter born in 1984, working for a company installing fencing and enjoyed telling stories of the celebrity houses he had worked on, and some he even had the chance to meet. He ended up relocating back to Maine a few years later and in 1988, welcomed his second daughter and in 1994 married his wife, Marlene Semetauskis who he spent 27 loving years with riding motorcycles, camping, gardening and tending their animals and was by her side when she lost her battle with cancer in 2021. John worked in construction and concrete most of his life, was an exceptional artist, was fluent in martial arts, had a gift for gab and left his mark on those who had the opportunity to know him. He loved his family dearly and one of his greatest joys was watching his grandchildren grow up and spending time with his dog, Bam Bam who was always by his side.
He is survived by his two daughters, Darcelle MacNeil and her husband Derek MacNeil of Buckfield, Kayla Semetauskis and her partner Jeff Lewis of Minot, two stepsons Michael Langlier of Idaho Falls, ID and Chad Roy and his partner Leslie Buck of Auburn, a stepdaughter Mya Pearsey and her husband and son of Anza, CA, three grandchildren Brooke Roy, John Jeremiah Semetauskis and Dylan MacNeil. A sister Tina Arsenault and her husband Joe Arsenault of Farmington and her son Nick Baril and his two daughters Jazlynn and Marianna of Auburn and an aunt, Claire Turner and her life partner Curtis Lane of Randolph.
He will be greatly missed.
A service will be held on Thursday May 29th at 1 pm at Fortin & Pinette Group, 217 Turner St, Auburn ME.
In lieu of flowers, we ask that a donation be made in his honor to either your local animal shelter or the Barbara Bush Children’s Hospital, where he was passionate about both causes.
