AUBURN – Joseph Paul St. Pierre, 86, of Oxford, beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather left us peacefully and returned to God on October 16, 2023, with family by his side and surrounded by great love, compassion and kindness.
Paul was born on August 26, 1937, the son of Leo and Cecile (Demers) St. Pierre in Lewiston, ME. In his early years he attended Catholic school, then went on to play football and hockey for Lewiston High School, and was a member of the graduating class of 1954. After his graduation he went on to serve honorably in the United States Army from 1954 to 1957 in the Korean Conflict.
After leaving the military, Paul worked for the IBEW as a Master electrician and at Pine Tree Electric (a company he co-founded) for 12 years. On December 26, 1959 he married Rachel Tardif, from Magog Quebec, and together they lived a full life raising 4 children: Denis, Michael, Cynthia, and Marsha. Their love and marriage lasted for nearly 64 years. Paul was a member of Our Lady of Ransom Church in Mechanic Falls and Sacred Heart Church in Auburn.
Paul had a great heart and was devoted to helping his family and friends. When something was needed Paul was always the person everyone counted on to lend a hand. In his early years, Paul loved to go bird hunting and fishing every chance he got; although not as often as he may have liked as he was known as a work-a-holic devoting the same love and passion to his job that he did his family.
After his retirement, Paul’s love of birds continued daily as he enjoyed watching cardinals, hummingbirds, and blue jays feeding outside his window. Paul spent a lot of time taking family members out to eat at his favorite restaurants including Longhorn SteakHouse and Olive Garden. Paul loved going on family vacations to DisneyWorld in Florida. When home, he would watch hockey and baseball following the local teams with his love Rachel by his side.
Paul is survived by his wife Rachel, son Denis & wife Therese, son Michael & fiancé Dyen, daughter Cynthia, daughter Marsha & husband Sofian, granddaughter Sarah and husband Christian, granddaughter Heather and husband Andrew, granddaughter Katelyn and husband Michael, grandson Denis Jr. and wife Andi, granddaughter Kelsey and grandson Jacob, grandsons Ibraheem & Imran along with granddaughters Emaan, Ayah, and Zainab. He is also survived by 7 great-grandchildren: Emma, Brynn, Oliver, Jack, Adaline, Ethan and Emilia. He loved and cherished them all and had very special memories with each one of them.
Paul will be dearly missed by all his family and friends.
In lieu of flowers you may make a donation in Paul’s memory to Androscoggin Home Health and Hospice, 15 Strawberry Ave, Lewiston, ME 04240.
