Judy was born in Lewiston, Maine on October 9, 1955 to Robert Dumas and Clara Read Dumas. She grew up in Auburn and graduated from Edward Little High School, class of ‘73, then attended the University of Maine Orono. Judy married Tim Walker on June 24, 1977. They made their home and raised their family on Empire Rd in Poland, where Judy lived until her passing.
Judy spent the early part of her married life as a homemaker and eventually began working as a substitute teacher and later an EdTech in special education. She spent the majority of her career at Poland Community School until her retirement in 2017.
Throughout her life, Judy enjoyed crafting, sewing and other forms of creative handwork and she took great pride and joy in decorating her home and camp. Together, Judy and Tim enjoyed camping with family and friends and exploring Maine via motorcycle and snowmobile. They were also deeply devoted to their family and cherished time with their children and grandchildren. Judy was a proud, generous, and loving mother and grandmother.
Judy is survived by her two sons Ryan Walker and his wife Betsy Upham and Evan Walker and his partner Jeanee Dudley; two grandsons Ellis Walker and Wilson Walker; brother Jim Dumas and wife Jennifer Dumas; sister Jayne Brainerd and husband Robert Brainerd; mother-in-law Claire Walker; brother-in-law Jim Walker; sister-in-law Francie Morrison and husband Richard Morrison; sister-in-law Nora Walker Cummings and husband Jeff Cummings; brother-in-law Phin Walker and wife Carol Cummings Walker; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. After being diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in 2022, Judy faced her illness with grace, courage, and optimism. During her journey she discovered the Cancer Resource Center of Western Maine. As regularly as she could, she attended their weekly Craft and Chat class. The kindness, generosity, and friendship she found at the CRCofWM was incredibly meaningful to her at a time in her life when she needed it the most.
