Kenneth Everett Vining Jr, 64, of Woolwich, ME passed away Sunday, February 23, 2020 peacefully at home, surrounded by his loving family, after his long and courageous fight with cancer.

He was born January 1, 1956 in Lewiston, ME to Kenneth E. Vining Sr. and Carolyn (Child) Vining.

Kenny grew up and attended Poland schools, Oxford Hills and Edward Little. He furthered his education becoming a certified marine mechanic and was highly respected and very well known in the industry. On August 23rd, 1980 he married the love of his life, Lori Ann Wright and from their union Jonathan "Jake" and Matthew Vining were born. After relocating to Northern Maine he broadened his knowledge to include excavation for the paper companies and private land owners. He divided his time between the homestead in Woolwich and the camp in Upper Enchanted. Ken never met a stranger and will be remembered for his loving heart, kindness, and willingness to help anyone.

In 2015 Ken began his journey with cancer. Over the next five years he became an inspiration to others with his positive outlook and encouragement to those facing the same. Due to his great strength and will to win the battle, Ken endured chemo as well as 95 radiation treatments with grace, dignity and an unwavering determination. Ken will be lovingly remembered as a larger than life personality always making everything an adventure.

My deepest condolences to Lori, Matt, and Family. Kenny will never be forgotten with all the great memories and stories we have to tell. The 1997 Moose Hunt was successful thanks to Kenny, Danny, Matt, and Jake. They showed us 12 moose the morning Steve shot this moose. Until we meet again Kenny.

Deepest sympathy to Lori and family. I only meet Ken once, but we had a good conversation about our mutual love of the outdoors and guiding. Our thoughts and prayers are for you all. As your new neighbor, please don't hesitate to ask if we can be of service.

Bear hunting with Ken. My son trapped his first bear with the help of Ken and uncle buck. Lots of hospitality from the vining family along the way. I could never forget the knowledge I received from this smart and knowledgeable outdoorsman.
