Larry C. Leavitt

Born at St. Mary’s Hospital in Lewiston on March 7th 1942 to the late Harold E. Leavitt Jr. and June (Grant) Leavitt.

Raised by his father and stepmother Theresa Leavitt, and great-grandmother Josephine (Grant) Bryant.

Growing up he enjoyed and participated in High School basketball and football, he loved his cars, especially his GTO’s, music and dancing, family and holiday gatherings, farming, walking in nature, hunting with his brother Lance and later in life, the conversations shared on the way to doctor appointments that Lance sometimes drove him to. He enjoyed spending time with all of his siblings, sharing, laughing and retelling old family stories and memories.

Larry loved listening to music, especially music by one of his all time favorites Elvis Presley. He had a love of animals and caring for his family's pet dogs throughout his life. He took pride in his home and yard, enjoying riding his tractor and mowing his lawn.

He attended Edward Little High School graduating class of 1961, going on to the Aroostook State Teachers College in Presque Isle. Now known as University of Maine at Presque Isle. Following an apprentice program he was then employed at BIW in Bath, ME. in the scheduling and planning dept, for a career of 30 plus years. Taking an early retirement from BIW in the early 1990’s.

He was then employed by Staples office supply in Brunswick for 12 years until health issues made him take full retirement.

Larry is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Robin J. Leavitt.; his three “Angels” daughters, Tracy Dickau, and husband James.; Joline Sullivan, and Eugene Jr.; and Laura Chandler, and husband Anthony.; his grandchildren, James MacDonnell Jr, Amy Cailler, Andrew MacDonnell, Sean MacDonnell, Nicole Sullivan; his great-granddaughter Alexis MacArthur; and his great grandson Andrew MacDonnell Jr.; his siblings, sister, Delores Wetter, and husband Berwyn. brother, Lance Leavitt and wife Lisa, sister, Ruth Marie Leavitt. Along with many nieces, nephews, and extended family, and his beloved dog, Leo.

A special thanks to all of Larry's amazing family, friends and caregivers. We are incredibly grateful for your continuous love, support, and kindness.

Larry's visitation will be held on Friday, July 24th at The Fortin & Pinette Group, 217 Turner Street, Auburn, from 11am-1pm with a funeral service to follow immediately after. He will be laid to rest at Gracelawn Memorial Park, 980 Turner Street, Auburn, following his funeral service.
