

So. Paris - Laurier R. Carbonneau Sr. 88, of Oxford, died Friday July 19, 2013 at the Maine Veterans Home, Born in Lewiston April 19, 1925 a son of the late Eugene & Clarida Blanchette Carbonneau, he attended St. Peter's School and Lewiston High School. He served in the U. S. Marine Corp during World War II and worked as a foreman in the shoe industry and later as International Shoe Industry Consultant for Stride Rite Foot Mfg. and served as Vice-President of Quality Control for Stride Rite International Domestic and International Operations. He was married to the former Lillian G. Guimond September 25, 1943. She died March 14, 1995. Mr.. Carbonneau attended St. Mary's Catholic Church in Oxford, and then later St. Catherine's in Norway. He also belonged to the Second Marine Division Veterans Groups. He enjoyed traveling, reading, home improvement projects, dining out, family, friends; particularly his dear friend Bert Cote. He loved his cottage/home on Black Island and giving wild water ski rides on Thompson Lake. He will be remembered for being an honest and fair person with a strong personality. Proud veteran who served his country. Loving companion and a good friend. He brought a few laughs to this life. He is survived by two sons, Laurier R. Carbonneau Jr. and his wife Donna of Leesburg, FL, Donald R. Carbonneau and his wife Gabrielle of Pittsfield, ME.,his grandchildren, Lisa Rancourt and husband Jeremiah, Laurie, Larry, Caitlin, Donovan and Mackenzie, 2 great-grandchildren Alexander Rancourt & Dalilah Carbonneau his long time friend and companion Theola E. Raasumaa of Oxford and her daughters, Debra Knightly and husband Brian of Upton, ME., Sue Penney and husband Norman of Alfred, ME. He was also predeceased by his brother Eusebe Carbonneau and step-sister Jacqueline Carbonneau. The family wishes to thank South Paris branch of the Maine Veterans Home and Dr. James Eshleman.
