Born in Brunswick, Maine, on January 27, 1944, to Andrew and Yvette Morin, Louise spent her early years moving frequently as part of a U.S. Army family, living both overseas and across the United States. She graduated from Junipero Memorial High School in 1962 and soon after returned to her home state of Maine, where she would build a life marked by deep family ties, dedicated service, and enduring friendships.
Louise lived in Brunswick and then Lewiston for over 40 years before relocating to Auburn five years ago to be closer to family following the passing of her long-time companion. She spent her final months lovingly cared for by her son Jay and his wife.
She worked for the State of Maine as the manager of the Lewiston Department of Labor, dedicating more than 35 years to serving the community with integrity and compassion.
Above all, Louise was a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She is survived by her beloved sister, Lorraine Groves of Brunswick; her children, Curt Dumais and his wife Karen of Lewiston, Jay Dufour and his wife Mauri of Auburn, and Lynsey Dufour of Los Angeles, California; her grandchildren, Chad and Kati Dumais, and Camren and Conner Dufour; and her great-granddaughter, Joslynn Benning. She also leaves behind two cherished granddogs, Maverick and Bentley, who brought her great joy.
Louise had a vibrant spirit and a love for life. She was an avid reader, enjoyed painting and puzzles, and loved traveling with her daughter Lynsey. Her happiest moments were spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchild—cheering them on at softball, football, lacrosse, and hockey games, always proud and present.
Louise’s strength, kindness, friendships, and unwavering love for her family will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
A memorial service will be held at the Fortin and Pinnette Group, 305 Alfred A. Plourde Parkway in Lewiston on Friday, October 3, 2025 with visitation from 10:00AM to Noon, with an in-house service at Noon, followed by a processional and burial at St. Peter’s Cemetery in Lewiston.
