

Lynda J Dodge, born March 30,1943 passed away at the age of 82 on January 17, 2026 at her family home in Auburn, Maine with family and friends by her side. Lynda was the daughter of Kenneth and Helen Merrow of Auburn.
She attended local schools and graduated from Edward Little High School in 1961. She graduated from the University of Maine in Machias with a Bachelor's Degree in education and her Masters Degree at LaSalle College in Newton, Massachusetts. She taught the majority of her career in the Hamilton-Wenham grammar school system where she met her future husband Edmund Dodge.
They were married on July 23, 1977 and shared many cherished years together. They enjoyed traveling, both at home and abroad, cross country skiing, attending Boston Symphony, and spending Sunday mornings reading the New York Times. But most of all they enjoyed their time at the cottage they built at Bear Pond in Hartford, Maine appropriately named "Eeswyck" which means" By The Water".
Lynda enjoyed gardening, listening to music especially Andrea Bocelli, and spending time with her family and friends. She traveled numerous summers to Vilnius, Lithuania to teach Lithuanian teachers.
Lynda was predeceased by her parents Kenneth and Helen Deringis Merrow, her husband Edmund Dodge, and her brother David Merrow and his wife Sharon Vacchiano Merrow.
She is survived by her two nephews Stephen Merrow of Rumford, Maine, Aric Merrow of Orrington, Maine, great nieces and nephew Brooke, Allie, and Christopher Merrow of Orrington, sister in law Gayle McDevitt of Rumford, step daughters Judy Dodge of Austin, Texas and Priscilla Dodge of Juno Beach, Florida and many cousins and special aunt Ruth Deringis and a very special friend and companion Joe Varuolo of Wilton, Maine.
We would like to thank Dr. Julia Moukharskaya and her staff who provided such wonderful care to Lynda at the Cancer Care Center of CMMC as well as the Andwell nursing staff who provide in home hospice care.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a short Visitation for Lynda on Tuesday, February 3, 2026 from 11AM to 11:30AM, followed by a Liturgy of the Word at 11:30AM at The Fortin & Pinette Group, 217 Turner Street Auburn, ME 04210. Internment will take place at Mt. Hope Cemetery in the Spring.
