Lewiston- It is with great sadness to announce the passing of Marilyn Jo Drewal, age 76, of Lewiston. Marilyn is survived by Robert Drewal, loving husband of 55 years, Rob Drewal (son) & Anne-Marie Drewal (ex—wife), Matthew Drewal (son) & Tricia Brooks (Partner), Benjamin Drewal (grandson), Lucille Occhipinti (sister), Tom Tortorice (brother) as well as several nephews nieces and cousins.
Marilyn grew up in Brooklyn New York, attended school and met the love of her life. After 27 years of living in NY Marilyn and Robert took first born son Rob and moved to Lewiston, Maine in 1974. Shortly after Matthew was born and the small Drewal family was complete. Marilyn worked at Sears and Roebuck for close to 20 years and set several records as one of the top salespeople in the Northeast. While at Sears she met many lifelong friends that she loved like family.
Some of her biggest hobbies were frequent trips around New England and adventures with her husband. LL Bean in particular was a favorite place of hers to frequent. She ate out all the time and this was followed by some pretty heavy food critiques. Trips were made to Ireland, Alaska, The Grand Canyon, Canada, Yellowstone and Glacier National Parks, Washington DC, and Gettysburg. As well as several cruises to Bermuda and the Caribbean. Marilyn loved seeing and trying new things.
She continued on the tradition of cooking the best pasta sauce and meatballs with the recipes handed down to her by her mother. Her family was well fed. She lived for them and enjoyed spoiling her children and grandson. Saying no to her was the biggest mistake one could make. Though she was only 5’2” tall, she displayed a strength and perseverance that kept her boys in check and even kicked a very aggressive cancer in the butt 30 years ago. She lived a full life. We only wished it didn’t have to end.
