

LEWISTON - Marilyn S. Thompson, 82 of New Auburn died Monday, Dec. 22, 2014 at Central Maine Medical Center. She was born in Washburn the daughter of the late Lloyd and Olive Bailey Stairs. She was educated in Caribou schools and was married to Edgar H. Thompson in 1950. Marilyn worked for many years at W.S. Libbey Mill and later at Montello Manor. She enjoyed gardening and cooking.
Marilyn will be remembered as a caring, loving and giving person. She is survived by her husband Edgar of New Auburn; a daughter, Lori Lynn Thompson of New Auburn and a son, Darin Thompson and wife Jennifer of Poland; a grandson, Michael Girouard of Boston; three sisters, Dorothy Adams and Jeannette Hanson both of Caribou and Earlene Hopkins of Windham; three sisters-in-law, Jeannette Stairs and Joan Stairs both of Caribou; Ruth Plummer of Medway and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a son, Brian L. Thompson; two brothers, Claude and Walter "Buzzy" Stairs and five brothers-in-law, Clarence "Sonny" Plummer, Wendell Thompson, David Hopkins, Paul Hanson and Phil Adams.
Visitation at Fortin/Auburn on Saturday from 1:00 PM until 2:30 PM with a funeral service to follow at 3:00 PM at Sixth Street Congregational Church, New Auburn. Burial will be held in the spring at Evergreen Cemetery in Caribou. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in her memory to the Maine Heart Association, 51 U.S. Route 1, Suite M, Scarborough, ME 04074.
