Mary E. Meltzer

1948 - 2010

Rumford - Long-time Rumford resident Mary Ethel Meltzer died Friday afternoon August 13th at Rumford Community Hospital after a long illness. She was 62.

Mary had been a resident of the Horizon’s Unlimited Group Home in Rumford for the past 35 years. Developmentally challenged since birth, Mary flourished at Horizons, where her fellow residents and staff became her best friends and surrogate family.

Mary is survived by her mother Rita Meltzer of Ft. Worth, Texas, her sister and brother-in-law, Rebecca and Dewayne Andrews of Oklahoma City, Okla., and her brother, sister-in-law, nephew and niece, Ivan, Mary Ann, Austin and Emily Meltzer of Northville, MI, and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Meltzer, Mary E. 8/13/10. Funeral services are scheduled for Mon. August 16th at 11 AM at The Fortin Group / Teague Funeral Home / AUBURN followed by interment in the family lot at the Beth Abraham Cemetery, Danville Rd. Auburn.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers donations be made to Hope Association for Horizon’s Unlimited. When donating by check, please write “for non-Medicaid reimbursable activities” on the check memo line. Donations can be sent to Horizon’s Unlimited, 319 Swain Road, Rumford, ME 04276.
