March 27, 1958 – May 3, 2025
Michael Anthony Marchesseault, affectionately known as Mike, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 3rd, 2025, at the age of 67 at Andwell Hospice House in Auburn, Maine. A longtime resident of Durham, Maine, Mike had called the town home for 48 years.
Born on March 27th, 1958, in Massena, New York, Mike was the son of Paul and Patsy Marchesseault. He spent his early years alongside his brothers—Neil, John, and James. Relocating to Maine, Mike graduated from Edward Little High School in Auburn and later attended Maine Maritime Academy, where he gained his credentials as a Journeyman in Marine Pipe Design and as a Journeyman Machinist.
On June 26, 1976, Mike married the love of his life, Donna Collins, in Mechanic Falls, Maine. Their nearly five decades of marriage were filled with family, dedication, hard work, and love.
Mike’s work ethic was unmatched. He began his professional journey as a poultry farmer before joining Bath Iron Works in 1982. Over the next 40 years, Mike rose to the designation of Master Builder—a title well-earned through his skill, loyalty, and leadership.
Beyond his work, Mike was a craftsman through and through. His joy was found in building and fabricating, especially classic cars like his 1933 Plymouth Hot Rod and 1955 Ch195evy Belair. He loved drag racing, landscaping, building trails, expanding and improving his home, and finding a way to fix anything and everything. Whether it had an engine or needed a creative fix, Mike was your guy.
Mike is survived by his devoted wife, Donna Lorraine Marchesseault (Collins); their two children, Beth Lougee (and husband Joseph H. Lougee), and Chad Marchesseault; and his treasured grandchildren: Darcie Parsons (and husband Nikolas Parsons), Mitchell Morgan, Abigail Lougee, Haley Lougee, Olivia Lougee, and John Lougee. He was also blessed to meet and be adored by two great-grandchildren, Oliver Parsons and Piper Parsons. Mike is also survived by his mother, Patsy Marchesseault (Dowse), and his brothers: Neil Marchesseault (Denise), John Marchesseault (Amy), and James Marchesseault (Brenda). Many nieces, nephews, and cousins also mourn his loss and remember his generosity, humor, and resourceful spirit.
He was predeceased by his father, Paul Marchesseault.
The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to the compassionate team at Andwell Hospice House. Their gentle care, unwavering support, and kindness brought comfort and peace to Mike in his final days. Beyond attending to his physical needs, they created a calm and welcoming space that allowed family—especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren—to share meaningful moments, express their love, and begin to process their grief with support.
In a time of immense difficulty, the family was especially blessed by the extraordinary presence of long-time family friend Rae Anne Keene. Her tireless and unwavering support—both during Mike’s final days and in the tender days that followed—brought us comfort and a deep sense of love. We are forever grateful for the selflessness and compassion she brought when it was needed most.
Mike’s life was a testament to resilience, craftsmanship, and the deep love of family. He will be missed dearly and remembered with joy.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Visitation for Mike that will be held on Wednesday, May 14th, 2025, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at The Fortin & Pinette Group, 217 Turner Street, Auburn, ME.
