

Oliver David Morris, 75, of Auburn, beloved husband of Nancy S. Morris passed away June 20, 2014 at Androscoggin Hospice House. He was born in Livermore, on January 10, 1939, the son of the late Arthur and Mary (McGrath) Morris. The family resided in Turner and Oliver worked from the age of ten at area farms. He attended Turner schools and graduated from Leavitt Institute. Oliver married Nancy Sudds in 1959 and moved to Auburn where he worked for Carter Milling and Wallingford Orchards where he helped build Lost Valley Ski Area and worked on the slopes tending ski tows and making snow. He then worked for his father-in-law, Carroll Sudds, in the propane gas business. His final and most rewarding occupation was in the creation of Morris Lawn Care and Snowplowing .He retired in October 2011 due to serious health issues. For several years he designed and maintained a neighborhood flower garden at the intersections of Lake Street, Gamage and Park Avenues. After a few years this project was aided by generous donations from area residents who enjoyed the garden and wanted to see it thrive. He is survived by his wife, Nancy, a brother, Millard and his wife, Ann, several sisters-in-law, and many nephews and nieces, four of whom brightened him during his three year illness. He also leaves a treasured sister-in-law Jean Goding , her husband, Bud and her children and grandchildren whom he loved as his own. He was predeceased by his five brothers, Henry, ArthurJr,. Raymond, Freeland and Roland.
Nancy wishes to thank the wonderful personnel from Androscoggin Home Health and Hospice without whom she could not have kept Oliver at home with her for the last three years. Mary Jo Bickford and Mary Lacroix were his special favorites. Also heartfelt thanks go to the staff of the Androscoggin Hospice House who created a special atmosphere of love and caring during his final days. To all the special relatives, neighbors, and friends--you enhanced his final three years with your visits, cards, telephone calls and tempting foods. Bless you all for smoothing the way for this exceptional and loving man.
