Patricia Lee Bellegarde, 81, of Auburn, Maine, passed away on July 7, 2026. Born in Lewiston on September 14, 1944, Patricia was the daughter of Henry and Viola (Bisbee) Groves. She was raised in Auburn and attended Edward Little High School, later returning to her studies and earning an associate’s degree in social work.
Patricia’s life reflected steady devotion to others, shaped by a compassionate spirit and a thoughtful way of showing care in both large and quiet, everyday moments. She brought that same sense of purpose to her work as a Head Start teacher in Lewiston, where her hard work and selfless attention to the needs of children and families were evident to those who knew her.
Patricia was married to Paul Bellegarde, and together they welcomed one son, Gary. Their bond remained a constant through the years, and they were dedicated to each other until Paul’s passing in 1995. Later in life, Patricia met James Halliday, who became a meaningful partner in her life.
In her younger years, Patricia found enjoyment in knitting and creating pottery—simple pursuits that reflected her patient hands and considerate nature. Later in life, Patricia started volunteering at the VFW in New Gloucester with her partner James.
Patricia was predeceased by her parents, Henry and Viola (Bisbee) Groves; her husband, Paul Bellegarde; her brothers, Robert Groves, Hank Groves, Elmer Groves, and Ernest Groves; her sisters, Verna Kebbler and Margaret Theriault; and her partner, James Halliday.
Patricia is survived by her son, Gary Bellegarde; her granddaughter, Eliza Bellegarde; and her sister, Beverly Littlefield.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Visitation for Patricia on Friday, July 17 from 4PM to 6PM at The Fortin & Pinette Group, 217 Turner Street, Auburn, Maine with a Funeral Service to follow at 6PM. She will be interred at Pine Street Cemetery in Auburn, Maine.
A special thanks to Andwell Hospice House for the care and compassion they gave to Patricia and her family.
