Patricia Lynn Christman passed away at St. Mary's D'Youville Pavilion in Lewiston, Maine, on October 18th, following a series of long illnesses. Her final moments were spent with family and her son Eli.
Born June 19th, 1967 in Lewiston, Maine to parents Homer Hinkley of Turner and Barbara Hinkley (Brackett) of Auburn, Patricia (known by most as Trish) grew up in Turner with her three siblings. While attending Leavitt Area High School she met and would later marry Mark J. Christman of Greene in 1997. In 2000 Trish and Mark welcomed their son Eli J. Christman.
Trish enjoyed spending time being active outdoors. During her school years she played field
hockey, and skied during winter months. Trish loved horses, and for many years she cared for her quarter horse, Mattais. Her love of horses is what brought her and Mark together. They bought a
farm in Greene and for many years raised and showed Percheron draft horses at many of the local fairs.
Trish followed in her love for staying active and exploring, and in 1988 graduated from Unity college with a degree in Outdoor Recreation. After college, Trish began work as a developmental
trainer for Community Partners Inc, 24 Old Lisbon Rd, a home for individuals with physical and developmental disabilities. Her family, coworkers, and residents remember her caring disposition, compassion and dedication for those who lived there. Her work led to countless hours of valuable enrichment for her residents. Activities such as crafts, exercise programs and exploring the great outdoors. Trish’s impact will always be remembered.
In July of 2000, Trish and Mark became parents to their only child, Eli Christman. Trish loved many aspects of life, but none as much as being a mother to Eli. Trish’s priority became raising her son and supporting him in all his activities. She enjoyed watching his soccer and baseball games, embracing his interest in aviation, and most of all, watching him perform in the theatre.
For many years, health concerns afflicted several parts of her life but these did not stop her from enjoying life. Even after she put her work life behind her, she continued emotionally supporting her son through high school, college and into his career and adult life. She enjoyed celebrating holidays and special occasions with her siblings, in-laws, nieces and nephews. She spent many summer and fall days camping with Mark locally and around New England. Some of her favorite places were her family camp on Bear Pond, North Conway N.H, and her beautiful flower garden at her house.
Patricia is predeceased by her husband Mark, her parents, Homer and Barbara Hinkley, in-laws, Raymond and Bernadette ‘Bunny’ Christman, and her sister-in-law, Janet Morse.
She is survived by son, Eli Christman, brothers Garry Hinkley (wife Lynne Cayting), John “Jack” Hinkley (wife Tammy Hinkley), sister Jo-Ann Lajoie (husband Richard Lajoie), brothers-in-law Michael Christman, Paul Christman (wife Jana Christman), and many nieces, nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews, whom she loved dearly.
The family would like to offer special thank-yous to Trish’s nurses, Julie at D’Youville and Jamie at Beacon Hospice for their care and compassion, as well as her caretakers and friends, Lynn and Carol, for their support of Trish and her family.
A celebration of life for Patricia will be announced at a later time.
