He was born in Augusta, Maine on February 24, 1967, to Raymond Kenneth Brown and Marianne Leone Brown. Raymond was raised in Winthrop, Maine and graduated high school from Monmouth Academy in 1985.
As a teen Ray was always tinkering with engines- whether automotive, lawnmower or boats. He was stationed primarily in Bahrain and enjoyed his travels to the Middle East. When Ray returned to the United States he traveled from East coast to West coast and everywhere in between, primarily working as a cook. He greatly enjoyed cooking and was taught many recipes by his parents and Grammy New York, Anne Leone.
Ray was affectionately known as Ray Ray by his family as you always had to call him twice when he was a child. After his travels, Ray settled in Auburn, Maine. He enjoyed riding his bike especially going down to the Androscoggin River parks. He also enjoyed music and hanging out with his friends. Ray was a kind sole and a good friend to all.
Ray was predeceased by his father, Raymond Kenneth Brown; as well as his grandparents Raymond Brown, Mae Brown and Anne Leone; and his aunt Linda Leone.
Ray is survived my his mother, Marianne Brown Damon of Scarborough, Maine; his sister Linda Swallow and her husband, Albert of South Portland, Maine; his sister Maria Masselli and her husband, Thomas of Scarborough, Maine; his nieces Alexandra Swallow of Salt Lake City, Utah, Anastasia Swallow of Boston, Massachusetts, and Kelsey Masselli of Boston, Massachusetts; his nephew Domonic Masselli of Scarborough, Maine; and his Uncle Raymond Leone and his wife Angela of McLean, Virginia.
Although Ray’s passing was unexpected, his family is comforted that he is once again reunited with his father, who he loved very much and died when Ray was 24 years old. Ray’s family would like to thank The Veteran’s Administration for their support of Ray’s disability.
A private family graveside service will be held at Glenside Cemetery in Winthrop, Maine at a future date.
