Ray Longtin was born and raised in Lewiston, Maine on August 29, 1952, as one of 14 children born to Ted and Murielle Longtin. Growing up, Ray attended ELH, where he found joy in playing hockey and woodworking.
Upon graduating, Ray was drafted into the United States Army, where he served two tours in Vietnam. Throughout his military career, he was stationed in various locations, including Germany, Fort Riley, and Fort Campbell, serving as a Military Police Officer. After dedicating 22 years to the Army, Ray retired and returned to Maine from Tennessee to care for his high school sweetheart, Noella Cyr. Their 40-year marriage tragically ended with Noella's passing due to cancer on January 14, 2014.
Ray's world revolved around his son, Tony Longtin, and his grandson, Zach Longtin, who followed in his grandfather's footsteps by serving in the USA as Spc Zachary Longtin. Ray's pride in his grandson was immeasurable.
In 2015, Ray embarked on a new chapter of his life, finding love once again. He married Stella Chase in 2017. Ray had a passion for fishing and woodworking, crafting beautiful outdoor ornaments and enjoying his time riding his Kabota.
Ray is survived by his brothers Russell, Richard, Robert, and Randy Longtin, as well as his sisters Janet Morin, Joline Sheehey, Debra Plourde, Brenda Longtin, Peggy Wilbur, Helen Thibodeau, Christine Longtin, and Carlene Longtin. He also leaves behind stepchildren Cheryl Chase Rowe, Tammy Chase Villemure, and John Chase Jr., along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Ray's dedication to his country was unwavering, and he was deeply grateful to all his family, friends, and colleagues at the American Legion Post 153 for their unwavering support throughout his life.
Ray's memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
