

He was born in Lewiston, ME on November 19, 1938 one of eleven children of the late Phillippe & Eva P. (Gauthier) Morissette. He grew up in Wales, attending local area schools.
Rene served in the U.S. Army Reserve and worked for Knapp Shoe Shop in Lewiston for many years prior to his life long career as a dairy farmer. He was a skilled handy-man and always willing to help out anyone in need.
Besides his wife of sixty years, he is survived by his nine children Theresa Morissette of Lewiston, Maurice Morissette and his wife Stacey of Leeds, ME, Lynn Morin of Lewiston, Jeannette Morissette and her fiancée Matthew Gaydos of Wales, Lucien Morissette and his wife Tanya of Lewiston, Muriel Gosselin and her husband Scott of Wales, Eddie Morissette of Wales, Jeannine Silberman and her husband Adam of Greene, ME and Lionel Morissette and his wife Ashley of Lewiston. He also leaves behind eighteen grandchildren and eight great grandchildren; his three sisters Henriette Poirier, Lorette Galipeau, Dorothy Poulin and her husband Renald as well as Sister-in-laws Lucille Morissette, Germaine Morissette and Emma Morissette and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his -Son-in-Law Ronald Morin, Granddaughter Renee Wood, his siblings Raymond, Armand, Normand, Edmund, Donald, Florence and Mignonne.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Wednesday, January 24, 2024 from 2-4 pm & 7-9 pm at The Fortin Group, 217 Turner Street, Auburn, ME. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, January 25, 2024 at 11 am at Holy Family Church 607 Sabattus Street, Lewiston. Burial will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers a memorial donation can be made to a place of your choice but please put in memory of Rene Morissette.
