Richard F. Croudis

Auburn, Maine - Richard F. Croudis, 94, of Auburn, Maine, passed away Saturday October 29, 2011 at Clover Manor Health Care with his loving family at his side. Richard was born in Yarmouth Maine, July 21, 1917, a son of the late William F. and Elizabeth E. (Ordway) Croudis. He attended local schools graduating from North Yarmouth Academy in 1935. He then attended Boston University graduating in 1948 receiving his BA in Music. He was a proud Veteran of The US Army having served his Country from 1942 - 1945 during WW II in North Africa and Italy. After returning from the War he married the love of his life Lillian Denham on May 18, 1946. They then made their home in Newport Vt. where he worked in the school system as a Music Teacher. He was an active member of The United Church of Newport Vt. where he also served as its choir director. Richard was a member of The American Legion Post 21 of Vt, the longest and oldest serving member of the Newport Rotary Club, the director of The North Country Music Festival in Newport for several years and a member of the Vermont Music Educators. In his spare time Richard loved camping.Richard is survived by his daughter Catherine Croudis of Lewiston, Maine, his nephews: John Wallace, Richard Dunham, David Preble and Jeffrey Preble, his nieces: Denise Ireland and Eileen Horton.

Committal Services will be held Saturday November 5, at 1:00 PM at Riverside Cemetery in Yarmouth Me. Memorial Services will be held at the United Church of Newport, Vermont on November 20th at 1:00p.m. Donations in Richard's name may be made to the Scholarship Fund in his name at the Newport Rotary, P.
