
He was born to Marcell and Rose Houle (Pinette) on November 14th 1946. Richard grew up in Lewiston with his 5 siblings, Robert, Claudette, Georgette, Claire, and Pete. Starting off at just 8 years old, Richard maintained an income by shining shoes. At 17, Richard enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. He served two tours in the Vietnam War, of which he went to Hawaii, Japan, Philippines, Okinawa, Hong Kong and Taiwan. He was honorably discharged and awarded two purple hearts along with many other awards for his bravery and honorability.
After the military, Richard went on to become a plumber, carpenter, and electrician, which aided in helping him build his Lisbon home for his two daughters, Jennifer and Jessica. Richard was the kind of person to give you the shirt off his back. He always made sure that his family was taken care of in every aspect. He was also a very outgoing person and when he retired, he developed a passion for camping and traveling. He went all over the United States with his wife, Arlene, yet he always had passions for building, hunting and fishing, four-wheeling, Budweiser and his dachshunds.
Richard is predeceased by his brother Robert, his wife Arlene, and his granddaughter Tanisha. He is survived by his two daughters Jennifer and Jessica and his grandchildren Patience, Keyanna, Kyerstyn, Chanse and Venessah along with several great-grandchildren.
His memorial service will be held at the Maine Veterans Cemetery, 163 Mount Vernon Road, Augusta ME.
