Richard E. Varney 80 passed away peacefully at Clover Nursing Home, Saturday Nov.17, 2018. He was born in Lewiston, Jan. 22 1938, the son of the late George Edward and Florence (Libby) Varney. On August 3rd, 1957 He married Barbara Andrews. Together they raised 3 children, Rick Willard, Rev. Christopher Scott and Coleen Sue. In addition, he leaves behind 17 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, a sister, Jacqueline Varney Lothrop and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he is predeceased by his brother, William L. Varney.
Richard worked at Falcon Ruler while in High School, following that he worked at Hutchins Box for 10 years and 23 years for Gould and Scammon as a pattern maker and as a sales representative. In 1990 he and Barbara bought Two Lakes Campground, which they ran for 11 years. He is fondly remembered for his desire to make people laugh.
Visitation will be on Monday December 1st from 12:00pm to 1:00pm at the Crossroads Community Church, 14 Lewiston Rd. Gray Me. A memorial service will immediately follow the visitation at 1:00pm Following the service there will be a luncheon/reception downstairs.
