He was born in Weymouth, MA on November 4, 1949 to Jeanne Macafee King and Richard Mills King. As a child he was often called Bobby and later as an adult he regularly went by Bo or Bart. Bart attended Weymouth High School before joining the Navy. He attended Ricker College and graduated with a Bachelor’s from Ohio University.
Throughout his life, he spent summers at “the cottage” in Wareham, MA where he fished, swam, sailed, played cribbage, and for a few years he fulfilled a dream to be a lobsterman. He held a variety of jobs including driving a Zamboni, working at the Bowdoin College bookstore, and had a career in social work. In his later years Bart lived in Durham, ME with his son Zach and grandchild Alex. He enjoyed making maple syrup with his friends, the Lincolns, bird watching, observing the wildlife in his yard, and tending his bees. He took pride in the trails he created through the woods behind his home, always ending his daily walk sitting at the hives and “catching a buzz”.
He is survived by his siblings, Richard King and Jane Stewart, his children, Amity Ziegler and Zachary King, and his five grandchildren Madison, Alex, Marcus, Quiana, and Jaxon.
Bart was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Eugenia Purman King. Bart and Eugenia met at Ricker, later reuniting and were joyfully married from 1998 until her death in 2008.
The family will be holding a small remembrance at a future date.
