

Boston- Roland E. Roberge 85, of Broad St. Auburn died Sunday March 4, 2012 at Mass. General Hospital, with his family at his side. He was born in Lewiston on February 2, 1927 a son of the late Louis and Marie (Angers) Roberge. He was educated in Lewiston schools and attended St. Dom's. Roland proudly served his country in the US Navy during WWII.
Roland married the love of his life Therese Potvin on November 15, 1947 and together they owned and operated Curran Bean Sprout Co. and raised their five children. He was a member of St. Louis Church, St. Louis Booster Club, New Auburn Seniors and American Legion Post 153 in New Auburn. He enjoyed playing cards, Bingo, bowling, golfing, traveling, especially to Foxwoods and Hollywood Slots. Roland was an avid fan of The Boston Red Sox, Pats, Bruins and Celtics. In his younger years he enjoyed coaching Little League Baseball and youth hockey, he also did his best to attend all of his kids and grandkids sporting events. Most of all, he just loved spending time with his family. Holiday parties and summer barbecues were two of his favorites. He leaves his wife of 64 years, Therese Roberge of Auburn, a daughter Rita Beaulieu of Lewiston, four sons: George Roberge and his wife Marie of Auburn, Bertrand (Bert) Roberge and his wife Mary of Auburn, Laurent Roberge and his wife Susan of Wales, and Marcel Roberge and his wife Tammy of Auburn, sister Jeannette Potvin of Auburn, 12 grandchildren: Michelle Rouleau and husband Brian of Poland, Todd Beaulieu of Lewiston, Toni Svor and husband Jon of Lewiston, Kristin Gibson and husband Joseph of MA, Matthew Roberge and wife Sara of MA, Jennifer Whitford and husband Christopher of MA, Gregory Roberge of Auburn, David Roberge of Auburn, Nicholas Roberge of Old Orchard, Brittany Roberge of Wales, Tyler Crowley and companion Shannon of Auburn and Ryan Roberge of Auburn, 3 great grandchildren Cole Gibson and Abigail and Julia Svor, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son in law Alan Beaulieu, a brother Henry Roberge and three sisters Yvette Renaud, Muriel Guay and Rachel Veilleux. The Roberge family would like to thank Androscoggin Home Health for their compassionate care of Roland during his recent illness. Visitation Fortin Auburn Wednesday 2-4 & 6-8. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday 1 PM at St. Louis Church. Committal will follow at St. Peter's Cemetery.
