Auburn - Ruth E. Castner, 92, of Auburn, passed away at home on Sunday October 10th following a brief illness. Born March 3, 1918 in Skowhegan, Ruth grew up in Monmouth and in Waldoboro where she met and married her high school sweetheart Stanley L. Castner in 1935. They then moved to Auburn where they were married for 73 years and together they raised two sons.
Ruth worked at the Lewiston-Auburn Credit Union for 25 years prior to developing and opening the Ja-Lynne Mobile Home Park with her husband in East Auburn in 1960. She managed the park with her husband until it was sold in 1997.
Ruth was a devoted mother, wife, caretaker and friend who enjoyed dancing, the ocean, cooking and entertaining for family and her many friends at her home.
She was an active member of the Court St. Baptist Church for 48 years. She was a very unselfish person who provided assistance without fanfare to family, friends and acquaintances who found themselves in need.
She is survived by her two sons Wayne Castner who resides with his wife Sally in Anthem, Arizona and Larry Castner who resides with his wife Pat in Minot, Maine; plus 11 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her husband Stanley Castner, her parents Willam and Vera Rines, a brother Harold Rines and a sister Stella Clements.

Sat. 10:30 AM - 12:30 PM followed by a funeral service in the church at 12:30 PM.
Graveside Committal to follow at Gracelawn Memorial Park. Those wishing may make donations in her memory to Shriners Hospital for Children, 516 Carew St. Springfield, MA 01104-2396.
