1923 - 2022
Livermore Falls - Simone Z. Reynolds, age 99, of Livermore Falls, passed away Monday morning, December 5th at her home with family at her side. She was born in St. Victor P.Q. Canada, on September 18, 1923, the daughter of Andre and Emilia (Poulin) Shank and was educated in Lewiston schools. In her early working years, Simone worked for a time at Bath Iron Works and was considered a "Rosie the Riveter" of that generation, as well as a "Third-Shift Nightingale." It was at BIW where she later met her future husband, Merton Reynolds, whom she married on September 25, 1954. Following their marriage, they settled in Auburn to raise their family. Simone later worked for many years at Knapp Shoe until her retirement. She was known for her infectious smile which she would greet everyone with. She had a wonderful voice and was always singing. Music was a great part of her, she played the harmonica and spoons when her family and friends would get together. She also had a big heart for the cat and dogs in her life. Always a friendly pat for them.
Later in life her favorite enjoyments were playing Beano and watching her favorite TV shows, especially, "Emergency" from the 1970"s. But she particularly enjoyed fun times with her family, especially her grandchildren, with a smile on her face and candy in her hands she would be eager to greet them. When her grandson was in high school, she liked to attend his football games and in the past year, became increasingly more interested in watching pro football on Sundays on TV with Jim, her son-in-law.
Simone was a very proper and particular lady who always maintained a well-kept home, inside and out. But her most gracious attribute was her very caring nature toward others. She was considered a "Caretaker" for many years, as she constantly cared for her elderly friends and neighbors, especially, those neighbors in her trailer park where she lived. Simone would do their hair, get their groceries and clean their homes, among other things, as often as she could.
Simone was a loving, devoted and hardworking wife, mother, grandmother and friend who will be dearly missed. She leaves behind 2 Daughters; Janet and her husband Jim Wetherell of Livermore Falls and Karen Chadsey of CT. 10 Grandchildren Alicia Sheperd, Eric Wetherell, Tatum Reynolds, Shelby Woods all of Maine, Melissa Reynolds, Michael Reynolds, Tina Chadsey, Eddie Chadsey, Jennifer Goodwin, Paul Ricard all of CT; 15 Great Grandchildren and 3 Great-Great Grandchildren and many loved nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Merton Reynolds, 2 sons Alan Reynolds and Merton Reynolds and a daughter Marsha Ricard and a great-grandson Dillan James Shink.
