Verna R. Chasse

Lewiston – Verna Chasse (74) died at hospice on January 20, 2018. She was born in New Britain, CT. She was the daughter of Emile and Lucille Cyr. After moving to Lewiston, Verna met her husband, Clarence Chasse. They married on May 19,1962 and had 5 children. Verna left the shoe factory and became a stay-at-home mom. She later began a daycare and not only raised her 5 children but babysat for 25 years until she was diagnosed with stage-4 cancer and couldn’t work but survived. She was a fighter. Her enjoyment in life was her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Verna leaves behind her husband of 55 years, Clarence Chasse and her 5 children – Tina Jordan and spouse Craig of Chesterville, ME; Joe Chasse and spouse Sandy of Minot, ME; Daniel Chasse and spouse Cindy of Phippsburgh, ME; Lisa Fontaine and spouse Anthony of Lewiston, ME and David Chasse and spouse Amy of Chicago, Ill, along with 12 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held at The Fortin Group/Plummer Merrill Funeral Home in Auburn on Wednesday from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday at Holy Family Church in Lewiston at 11:00 AM.
