Vivian Proulx

Born on February 15, 1953, in Lewiston, Maine, Vivian lived a life defined by faith, love, kindness, generosity, and unwavering devotion to her family. She attended St. Dominic Regional High School, where she met the love of her life, Francis “Frank” Proulx. Together, they shared 53 years of marriage, building a life centered around love, family, and faith.

Throughout her life, Vivian worked in administrative and medical office settings before retiring from a career in medical records. While she took pride in her work, her greatest accomplishment and the role she treasured most was being a wife, mother, and grandmother. Above all, she was proud to be called Memere.

Family was Vivian’s greatest joy and the center of her world. She was a devoted and supportive mother who was always there. She never missed a school event, a sporting event, or an important moment in her children’s lives. She was their biggest supporter, their steady presence, and the person cheering them on from the sidelines. She carried that same devotion into the lives of her grandchildren, proudly attending their activities and celebrating their accomplishments.

Vivian created a home where people felt loved and welcomed. Her house was the place where children gathered, friends felt at home, and everyone knew they were welcome. In addition to raising her own children—she nurtured many neighborhood children. She created an environment marked with warmth, laughter, good food, and a strong sense of belonging. Food was her love language. She showed her care through hot meals, home cooking, and making sure everyone was fed and taken care of. Through every meal and gathering around her table, Vivian shared her love in a way that will never be forgotten.

Vivian found joy in the simple and beautiful things in life. She loved gardening and filling her world with flowers, sunny days at the beach, floating on her tube in Thompson Lake, snowshoeing, puzzles, reading, listening to music, watching a good movie, shopping, keeping a warm and welcoming home, folding laundry, spending time with her cats, and stoking the wood stove. She enjoyed going out to eat, sharing a glass of wine, and appreciating quiet moments after a busy day.

She especially cherished peaceful evenings when everyone was home and she could rest knowing her family was safe. She was the mother who waited up, who cared deeply, and who always wanted to know that the people she loved were okay.

Vivian also shared her creativity with Frank through the Hebron Wreath Company. Together, they created beautiful award-winning wreaths for the Fryeburg Fair from their basement workshop in Hebron, lovingly known as “Santa’s Workshop.” Through this work, they shared the beauty and deeper meaning of the Christmas season with others.

Vivian will be remembered for her thoughtful heart, generous spirit, kindness, and unconditional love. She gave so much of herself to her family through countless everyday acts of care—through meals prepared, events attended, traditions created, and the presence she provided throughout their lives.

She is survived by her loving husband, Frank; her children, Aaron and his spouse, Nicole, Jacob, Michelle, and Sarah and her fiancé, Zac; and her cherished grandchildren, Cory, Nora, Levi, Ella, and Ziyah.

We were blessed to have her as our mother, grandmother, and wife. Her passing has created a deep hole in our lives, as she is missed more than we can express. Though she is no longer physically with us, her love, lessons, traditions, and memories will live on in our hearts.

May we all be raised to a higher level of love and understanding by her passing.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Visitation for Vivian on Wednesday, August 5th from 5PM to 7PM at The Fortin & Pinette Group, 217 Turner Street Auburn, Maine 04210. A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, August 6th at 11AM at Our Lady of Ransom, 117 Elm St, Mechanic Falls, ME 04256. Committal Prayers will follow at Maple Ridge Cemetery in Hebron, Maine 04238
