Doris Angela Hayes, 94, passed away on September 13, 2026. Born on February 25, 1932, in Hawthorne, Florida, she later made her home in Jacksonville, where she raised her five children. She was an active member of St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Riverside, but the roles she cherished most throughout her life were those of wife and mother.
Doris was married to her beloved husband, Stephen A. Hayes Jr., for more than 50 years before his passing. She is survived by her children, Stephen A. Hayes III and his wife, Mary Jo; Susan Fairbrother; Donna Hayes; and Patricia Razook and her husband, Edward. Her son Michael Hayes preceded her in death.
Being a grandmother brought Doris tremendous joy. She was the proud grandmother of Justin Hayes and his wife, Paula; Matt Hayes and his wife, Liza; Christopher Razook; Ashley Razook; Benjamin Fairbrother and his wife, Alison; Brian Fairbrother; Matthew Razook; Jane Hayes; and Sarah Hayes. She was also a proud great-grandmother to Chelsea Hayes, Brandon Hayes, Alexis Hayes, Analise Hayes, Abby Fairbrother, and Amy Fairbrother, and great-great-grandmother to Hudson Hayes.
Doris showed her love for her family in many ways, especially through cooking and baking.
Doris was always beautifully put together, with her hair just so—a reflection of the pride and care with which she carried herself. Above all, she will be remembered for the love and care she gave her family, who will miss her dearly.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Doris’s memory to Catholic Charities of Central Texas (https://host.nxt.blackbaud.com/donor-form/?svcid=renxt&formId=f21dcab1-7078-4b74-a0cd-8e2ac4a67ab2&envid=p-yQCudjt350SDcIwo4nfBdA&zone=usa)
