Floyd Ray Clark

Floyd Clark, 89, passed away on August 29, 2026. He was born on September 17, 1936, in Corpus Christi, Texas, to Floyd Clark Sr. and Alice Chandler Clark. He grew up along the Texas coast with his younger sister, Ann Clark Dunlap, surrounded by a large family of many aunts, uncles, and cousins. He spent many cherished hours fishing in Corpus Christi and hunting in the Texas Hill Country alongside his father. He also enjoyed working with his cousins on a family farm in Port Lavaca, Texas.

Floyd graduated from Ray Mills High School in Corpus Christi. He went on to graduate from Texas A&M University in 1960, where he majored in marine biology and proudly served in the Texas Aggie Corps of Cadets. He remained a lifelong, devoted fan of Texas Aggie football. Following college, he served his country as a lieutenant and paratrooper in the United States Army.

Floyd was introduced to Linda Cartlidge by her sister, Sandra Cartlidge Covington, in Corpus Christi. The two were married on June 13, 1964, and shared 62 years of marriage. Together, they made their home in Kingwood, Texas, where they raised their two daughters, Melissa Clark Pattison and Kelli Clark Hayes.

Floyd had a varied and accomplished career. He began his professional life as a stockbroker with PaineWebber. He later founded Kingwood Oil and maintained his interest in the financial markets through stock trading.

Floyd's faith and trust in the Lord as his Savior were an important part of his life. He was a devoted and active member of Forest Cove Baptist Church, where he served faithfully as a deacon for many years. He was also a member of Hyde Park Baptist Church in Austin, Texas.

Floyd loved the Colorado mountains. He and Linda rode motorcycles in the summer and loved to ski in the winter. He taught his daughters, Kelli and Melissa, to ski. After purchasing a home and living part-time in Colorado for many years, he introduced his five grandchildren to snow skiing and the beautiful Colorado summers.

Above all, Floyd cherished his family. He is survived by his wife, Linda Cartlidge Clark. He is also survived by his daughter, Melissa Clark Pattison, and her husband, Glen Pattison, along with their daughters, Taylor Pattison Kennedy and her husband, Kade Kennedy; Hope Pattison and her fiancé, Chad Crosby; and Sydney Pattison. He is also survived by his daughter, Kelli Clark Hayes, and her husband, Jerry Hayes, along with their sons, Chandler Hayes and Dillon Hayes. He is also survived by his sister, Ann Clark Dunlap, as well as extended family and many dear friends. Floyd was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd Clark Sr. and Alice Clark.

Floyd will be remembered for his love of family, his strong faith, his service to his country, and his lifelong appreciation for the Texas outdoors. He lived a life of purpose, devotion, and service, leaving behind a legacy of love that will continue through his wife, children, and grandchildren. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, September 16, 2026, at Hyde Park Church, 3901 Speedway, Austin, TX 78751, starting at 11:00 AM. A livestream link will be made available at a later date.
