George Scariano Jr.

George was born and raised in New Orleans, Louisiana. He graduated from Jesuit High School, attended LSU and graduated from UT Austin. In Austin he worked at the original Chuy’s on Barton Springs, where he met his wife, Jennifer. They had two wonderful sons, Evan and Zachary. He then went on to found Royal Blue Grocery with his business partner and friend, Craig Staley. George was a force of nature. A fisherman, a businessman, a gardener and an amazing cook. He loved his family, his stores, music, New Orleans and helping others. He was an amazing observer of the natural world and a lover of travel. He was a person who was absolutely brimming with life - brilliant, creative, energetic and full of passion. He had seen the world, and loved it, but was happiest when he was on the water with his boys and a fishing rod in his hand.

He is survived by his wife, Jennifer, and sons, Evan and Zachary; his parents, George Sr. and Cheryl Scariano; his sisters, Eileen Barber and Keri Bush, and her husband, Rene; his nieces, Nichole and Danielle Barber, and Sarah Melancon and Rachel Bush, and a loving extended family. He is survived as well by countless new and old friends, business colleagues, and fishing buddies.

Funeral Mass will be Monday, August 24th at 11:00 am at St. David’s Episcopal Church in Austin, TX with a reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Integral Care (George Scariano Jr. Memorial Fund), a non-profit that provides comprehensive mental health care in the Austin area or Capital Area Food Bank (Central Texas Food Bank), a non-profit that provides food and services to the Central Texas area.
