Maria Cavazos Cortez

Maria graduated from Harlandale High School in 1968 in San Antonio where she grew up in a loving home. She worked at a local drug store as a cashier during high school and later at the National Bank of Commerce in San Antonio. Most recently she worked at Texas State Teachers Assn in Austin, Tx before retiring in 2016.

She is preceded in death by her parents and sister Anna Maria Rodriguez of Corpus Christi. She is survived by her spouse Daniel and children Marisa Coon (Zachary} and Christopher Cortez, grandchildren Landon and Owen and sister Norma Esquivel of San Antonio. She loved family gatherings, camping and boating.

The family would like to thank Texas Oncology's Dr Knowles and her staff for the care and compassion they provided our loved one in her days of illness.

Family and friends are invited to attend a Visitation at Cook-Walden/Forest Oaks Funeral Home, 6300 W. William Cannon on December 1, 2023 from 5pm to 8pm.

Services will be held Saturday, December 9, 2023 starting at 9:30am at Cook-Walden/Forest Oaks Funeral Home, 6300 W. William Cannon, beginning with a Rosary followed by a Memorial service, Interment, and reception.
