Mary Elizabeth Baker, 75, of Austin, Texas, sadly passed away after a brief illness on June 21, 2023 with family at her side. Mary, or Mimi as she was best known, was born on October 22, 1947 to Robert and Charlotte (Lewis) Baker of Grosse Pointe Shores, Michigan. She was deeply loved and will be terribly missed.
Mimi graduated from Grosse Point High School in 1965 and then set out on a life of adventure as a flight attendant. For 35 years, she flew for American Airlines, which allowed her to travel the world, from Europe and Mexico, to Japan, and her favorite of all favorite places, Hawaii. In the 1990s, Mimi transitioned to working as a real estate agent in Los Altos Hills, California before retiring to Naples, Florida and then moving to Texas in 2022 with her beloved dog, Baby, to be closer to her children.
In addition to her parents, Mimi was predeceased by her brothers, Robert Baker and Joseph Baker. She is survived by her daughters Anna Baker and her husband, William Slaton, Lindsay (Baker) White and her husband, Bryan, and her son Patrick Baker and his wife, Deanna (Tam) and their children, Benjamin and Claire, her brother Richard Baker and his wife, Barbara, and her sister, Patricia (Baker) Testa, and many nieces and nephews.
Mimi was as carefree as they come, loved blasting music from the 50’s and 60’s and singing along at the top of her lungs, and had a huge soft spot for all animals, but there was nothing more important to her than her three kids.
A private Celebration of Life will be conducted for Mimi in Hawaii in August 2023.
