

Alice was full of life and loved to entertain, making all in her presence feel welcome. She didn't know a stranger. After a valiant fight against Multiple Myeloma she went home to be with her Savior Jesus and her husband Rod of 45 years. Alice was born in Hanford, CA and moved to Bakersfield in 1963. After graduating from North High in 1968, she went to work at Contel as a keypunch operator. In 1970 she began her career of 34 years with the Kern High School District. After taking a leave to care for her young daughters and to earn her AA she was rehired in 1983 as a programmer. In 1998 Alice was named Director of Data Processing. She retired in 2010 allowing her and her husband Rod to travel often and to spend time with their grandkids.
Alice is survived by her daughters, Leandrea and Ryan Slayton (son-in-law), Amy and Ryan Young (son-in-law), grandchildren, Conner and Brynna Slayton Colby, Jared, and Brady Young, sisters Sarah Dickey (and husband Ron), Sherry Peladeau ( and husband James), Judy Love (and husband Ernie), and sister-in-laws, Carole Hunter (and husband Charlie), and Benda Gooch.
Visitation will be Wednesday, July 8 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Hillcrest. The memorial service will be at Riverlakes Church, July 9 at 10:00 a.m, with graveside following at Hillcrest Memorial Park.
