1925-2011
Alice Scott was born on November 17, 1925 to Winnie and Jesse Johnson in Sterling, Oklahoma. At age 16, she married Clifford, her one true love and later moved to Bakersfield where they raised their three children, Byron, Lynda and Denise. Alice was devoted to her family and was an accomplished cook and seamstress. She was always available for her family with kind words, a shoulder to lean-on, good advice, and a house to stay if needed. Her lust for life led her on many family fishing and camping trips where she loved to observe the marvels of nature and the ever-changing sky. Music was another love of Alice’s; although country music was her usual soundtrack of choice, she could often be seen dancing to other favorites such as Tom Jones and Frank Sinatra. She was a source of strength, comfort and unconditional love for her family and will always be remembered and admired for her liveliness and feisty attitude. Alice was a woman who epitomized feminine grace, but was never short a comeback or witty comment when necessary. She has left behind a legacy of delicious meals, fun memories, and most importantly, a model of character for all that knew her.
Alice was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Clifford Joseph Scott and left behind 3 children, 6 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, and her little “Lily Tillie”. We will miss you!
