Andrea Gail Medina

Andrea Gail Medina was born on February 24,1964 to James and Lahoma Miles at Memorial Hospital in Bakersfield, CA. The family moved to Hawaii when she was 3 years old. Andrea lived in Hawaii and graduated from Waikea High School in 1982. After graduation Andrea worked as a travel agent for Naomi’s Travel while she studied Police Science at the University of Hawaii at Hilo.

Andrea returned to Bakersfield in 1983 and was married in 1991. Her only child, Gregory, was born in 1995. While raising Greg, she worked at Kern Travel Agency and became the Travel Agent Specialist assigned to assist all travelling Kern County employees. She subsequently became a Health Benefits Specialist in the Kern County Administrative office and worked there for almost 20 years.

In 2020 she became a grandmother to her only grandchild, Kit Gregory Medina. Kit became the apple of her eye. She was a protector by nature, and she loved her family very much. She was looking forward to retirement so she could spend every waking moment with Kit!!

Andrea died in her home in Bakersfield on June 7th, 2024. Although Bakersfield was home for the past 40 years, Hawaii was Andreas true home. She found comfort in the ocean breezes, the clear waters of the Pacific Ocean, and the black sands of the Hawaiian shores. Her memories of hula dancing, cheerleading, and especially her high school friends, her Hawaiian “ohana”, were memories she cherished till the end. Hawaii was her paradise.

She is preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, George D Miles and Jessie Cowan and maternal grandparents Edward and Rebecca Work.

She is survived by her parents James and Lahoma Miles of Neosho, MO, her son Gregory (Tiffany) Medina, and grandson Kit. She is also survived by her brother Terry Miles and his wife Rebecca Miles, their children James (Megan), Timothy (Keirstan), and Jonathan (Madison) Miles. She is also survived by her Aunt Wanda and Uncle Bill Moore of Battlefield Mo, Aunt Sherriel Byers of Bakersfield CA, and numerous cousins, great nephews and great nieces.
