Aubrey "Jack" Delaney February 13, 1926 - August 27, 2013 After living a full life of 87 years, Jack went home to be with his beloved wife Barbara and the Lord. Jack was born to Aubrey Joe and Mae Delaney on February 13, 1926 in Pittsburg, Kansas. After a brief illness, surrounded by his family, Jack is preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Delaney; parents, Aubrey Joe and Mae Delaney; and sister, Dorothy Alford. Jack is survived by his daughter, Barbi and Terry Hill; granddaughter, Pati and Richard Wilkins; and grandsons, Jack Olsen, and Gregory and Kim Olsen. He is also survived by great grandchildren, Katilyn and Jenifer Wilkins, Bailee Armstrong, Aubree and JJ Olsen, Robbie and Alexander Olsen; nephews, Mike and Joyce Alford, Pat and Joyce Alford. Jack also enjoyed two special daughters, Paulette Spain and Timmie Phipps, and very special little friend, JoLee Oakes. After moving to Bakersfield in 1934, he went to Emerson Jr. High School, and Bakersfield High School. While at a dance Jack met the love of his life Barbara Joan Caldwell. They were married on April 22, 1945 and soon after in December their only child Barbara Joan Delaney Jr. was born. While working for Gene Reed Drilling, Jack met his future business partner Stan Ahlf, and in 1958 the two of them opened Delaney and Ahlf Diesel Service. While in high school Jack and his friends would go out and drag race whenever they could. In order to have their times acknowledged the Bakersfield Coupe and Roadster Club was formed. In 1948, the club was renamed Bakersfield Smokers Inc. In 1959 the Smokers acquired a landing strip in Famosa and paid a driver out of Florida named Don Garlits to come out to California. The result of the race was the start of what is now known as the March Meets. In Jack's free time he enjoyed spending time on his ranch located in Woody California doing multiple different activities such as taking care of his horses and spoiling Barbara. The Family would like to thank the doctors and staff at Bakersfield Heart Hospital. Pallbearers will be Jack Olsen, Gregory Olsen, Richard Wilkins, Gene Lopez, Larry Spain and Alfred Posada. Honorary Pallbearers: Hut Watkins, Russ Kniffen, Keith Kincheloe, Johnny Phipps, Terry Hill, and Alan Davis. Visitation will be Thursday, September 5, 2013 at Hillcrest Mortuary from 4-8 p.m. Service officiated by Pastor Bruce Hatton will be held Friday, September 6, 2013 at Hillcrest Memorial Park & Mortuary at 10 a.m
