Bobby Dean Winter, 84 of Bakersfield, CA passed away June 28, 2025, from Parkinson’s Disease. Bob’s parents, the late Paul and Nina Winter, raised Bob and his sister, Carol, and their brother Jerry, in Lamont, CA. A devoted husband to wife, Toni Winter, Bob always said, “I met my angel in Paradise, and I’ve been in heaven ever since!” Paradise California, that is. Their remarkable marriage of 64 years began in 1961. Bob was a loving father to his two daughters, Debbi Work (Kelly) and Cheryl Tackett (Doug), and a proud grandfather of his 2 granddaughters, Megan (Jonathon) and Kristin (Chad), and his 7 amazing great-grandchildren.
Bob was ordained as a minister of the gospel in 1965 by the International Ministerial Association, Inc., and he served at Revival Tabernacle in Lamont, CA, where he was subsequently made associate pastor. In 1974 he established the ministry of Revival Tabernacle Christian Academy, which served students and their families until 1988. In 1982 he assumed lead pastor and served at Revival Tabernacle until he retired in 2000. He later served as a chaplain at Optimal Hospice. Bob received his Bachelor of Theology degree from Vision Christian University in 1990. One of his greatest joys through the years was getting to labor side by side with his sister Carol with her God given talent in music ministry.
Bob had a wide range of interests. He eagerly followed college and pro sports such as football, basketball and baseball and even did a bit of umpiring for local youth sports organizations. He enjoyed traveling to the mountains as well as cruises with family and friends. Bob was eager to play board or table games. In fact, he became quite the champ at ping pong. And, he was so crazy about puzzles that a couple of his biggest puzzles were framed and hung on his wall.
It was Bob’s huge heart for others that stands out. He could see the needs and longings of people struggling in life. For many people, Bob’s kindness made all the difference. Bob loved serving Jesus, loved time with his family, and loved worshipping God with both his voice and his trombone. He also loved a simple meal of hamburgers and root beer, topped off with vanilla ice cream and caramel sauce.
We would like to give a special thank you to the Alzheimer’s Disease Association of Kern County and Hoffman Hospice for your compassionate care shown to Bob. The dedication, patience and many ways you offered support will never be forgotten. We will be forever grateful.
