After a long, hard fought, battle with cancer, Brenda Younger, surrounded by her family, went home to the loving arms of her Heavenly Father. She was 51. Brenda was born October 11, 1960 in Salt Lake City, Utah, to parents Alvin Ray and Carol Ann Bytheway. In January 1967, at the age of six, she and her family moved to Camarillo, California. She attended school in Camarillo and in 1979 graduated from Camarillo High School. She was a Cheerleader all four years of high school. Brenda decided at an early age that she wanted to become a teacher. She loved working with children and later came the "Best Teacher". At home with her four younger brothers she naturally became their teacher. She would make them line up, sing songs, color pictures and do make believe "school work". As a teen she taught gymnastics at the Camarillo Boys & Girls Club. Brenda attended California Polytechnic State University in San Luis Obispo, California graduating with a Masters Degree in Education. She taught First Grade until almost the end of her life at Rosedale North Elementary School in Bakersfield, California. Brenda met her High School sweetheart, Don Younger, in 1976 and they were married in 1986. They moved to Bakersfield, CA where they made their home and raised their three children, Greg, Kevin and Julianne. The family enjoyed spending time together and, in fact, enjoyed water sports so much, they built a home on a ski lake. Brenda enjoyed traveling and also enjoyed scuba diving. But most important to her was her family. Brenda was preceded in death by her youngest brother, Gary Bytheway. Left to cherish her memory is her loving and devoted family, husband, Don Younger; three children, Greg, Kevin and Julianne Younger; parents, Ray and Carol Bytheway and three brothers, Bob, Steve and Jim Bytheway; and lots of extended family and friends who will miss her beautiful smile. An Open House Service will be held at the family Lake House from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. with Memorial Service at 11:00 a.m., on Friday, May 25, 2012. Address: 28035 Millux Road, Arvin, CA. At the request of the family, please dress casual. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Huntsman Cancer Center in Salt Lake City, St Jude's Children's Hospital or the Cancer Foundation.
