OBITUARY

Brenda Ann (Bytheway) Younger

October 11, 1960May 3, 2012

After a long, hard fought, battle with cancer, Brenda Younger, surrounded by her family, went home to the loving arms of her Heavenly Father. She was 51. Brenda was born October 11, 1960 in Salt Lake City, Utah, to parents Alvin Ray and Carol Ann Bytheway. In January 1967, at the age of six, she and her family moved to Camarillo, California. She attended school in Camarillo and in 1979 graduated from Camarillo High School. She was a Cheerleader all four years of high school. Brenda decided at an early age that she wanted to become a teacher. She loved working with children and later came the "Best Teacher". At home with her four younger brothers she naturally became their teacher. She would make them line up, sing songs, color pictures and do make believe "school work". As a teen she taught gymnastics at the Camarillo Boys & Girls Club. Brenda attended California Polytechnic State University in San Luis Obispo, California graduating with a Masters Degree in Education. She taught First Grade until almost the end of her life at Rosedale North Elementary School in Bakersfield, California. Brenda met her High School sweetheart, Don Younger, in 1976 and they were married in 1986. They moved to Bakersfield, CA where they made their home and raised their three children, Greg, Kevin and Julianne. The family enjoyed spending time together and, in fact, enjoyed water sports so much, they built a home on a ski lake. Brenda enjoyed traveling and also enjoyed scuba diving. But most important to her was her family. Brenda was preceded in death by her youngest brother, Gary Bytheway. Left to cherish her memory is her loving and devoted family, husband, Don Younger; three children, Greg, Kevin and Julianne Younger; parents, Ray and Carol Bytheway and three brothers, Bob, Steve and Jim Bytheway; and lots of extended family and friends who will miss her beautiful smile. An Open House Service will be held at the family Lake House from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. with Memorial Service at 11:00 a.m., on Friday, May 25, 2012. Address: 28035 Millux Road, Arvin, CA. At the request of the family, please dress casual. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Huntsman Cancer Center in Salt Lake City, St Jude's Children's Hospital or the Cancer Foundation.

Don't let the tears fall too long For you have loved me. Remember me with smiles For you have loved me.

Mrs.Younger was my first grade teacher back in 1998/99. She taught me to love reading and everything from science to songs she would have us sing. Im very grateful to have had a teacher like her. I still remember the first day of school and how comfortable she made everyone feel. Thank you Mrs.Younger for teaching me so many wonderful things. You will be deeply missed.

She was an amazing teacher, who touched many. My prayers are with the family for this incredible loss. She taught my son last year and he stood by her proudly in the class photo we now cherish, I recollect many times he ran to give her a hug even this year. We are all very shocked, with deep hearts of sorrow. May she live for an eternity where we all shall return, this life is but a dream. Love the Baker Family

My daughter, Breyah, was one of Brenda's First graders this year at Rosedale North Elementary. Thank you for sharing your beautiful daughter, mother, sister, and wife with the kids in rm 18. Thanks to Mrs. Younger, Breyah has soared with her reading and we will be checking out her favorite books read by her teacher, The Boxcar Children Series. She is missed daily by MANY six and seven year olds and will forever hold a place in Breyah's heart.

Mrs. Younger was my daughters teacher at Rosedale North this year. Her loss was a shock to us because she was so dedicated to her classroom children. What an amazing person to continue to work when going through such a hard time. My thoughts are with her family at this time.
