Catherine Marie Ullrich peacefully went to be with the Lord at the Hoffman Hospice House, surrounded by family on April 18, 2016. She was born on April 2, 1927, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, to Frank and Clara Schuman. The family moved to Canada and then returned to Minnesota where she spent most of her childhood. She moved to Bakersfield in 1948, and it was here that she met and married Joseph Ullrich to whom she was married for 58 years. As devoted Catholics, they were founding members of Christ the King Catholic Church in Oildale where she was president of the parish Mother's Club and a member of Catholic Daughters of America. She and Joe enjoyed many years spending time in Cambria, where they entertained their grandchildren and great-grandchildren. One of her most memorable adventures in later life was taking an Alaskan cruise with members of her family to see the ALCAN Highway that her father had helped construct.
Cathy worked as a legal secretary for over 50 years, working for many local attorneys. During this time she was an active member of the Kern County Legal Secretaries Association, and held many Board offices, including President, and was involved in their philanthropic charities.
