

At 5 years old Leon's family would move to Indio, California where his family worked on the Belle Ranch just outside of Palm Springs. This is where his "Little" brother Larry was born. Leon told tales of his early childhood at the Belle Ranch such as running barefoot over the fresh cut corn stalks and smoking grapevine.
When he was 9 his family moved to Bakersfield. The next day after they moved in there was a knock on the door and this is where he met his best friend for life. The little boy at the door said "I came to be your friend.
" His name was Buddy. This neighborhood has become known as the old neighborhood. This is also where Leon would become lifelong friends with Lyle, Norman, Paul, Frank and Ernie.
At the age of 17 his family moved to Oildale. Leon began to work at some jobs such as the Foundry.
When he was 23 he met his first wife Ruth. They were married a year later and developed a family. Ruth came with a son named Michael. Together they had a son named Steven.
Leon adopted Michael and together they raised their sons.
Leon then began to work for Kernville Stage and Freight Lines as the mailman for Lake Isabella / Kernville area. A short time later his brother Larry also began to work there. Leon worked with his brother for most of their lives.
The 3 brothers and friends liked to meet at the coffee shop after work and shoot the bull.
This is where at the age of 35 Leon met the love of his life Michelle. They were married in
1978 and were married for 43 years.
Steven blessed us with 2 beautiful Granddaughters Elliana and Abby Lynn.
Leon and Larry left Kernville Stage and went to work in the Oilfields. He was a DIY man and had a lifelong enjoyment of puttering around in the garage. He enjoyed working on this cars, motorcycles and clocks. He rode motorcycles with both of his brothers and friends.
they would often take trips together. The 3 brothers would also take their kids or their wives on these trips.
He retired at the age of 62.
At the age of 81 Leon experienced some health issues and passed away on Feb. 2, 2022.
He was proceeded in death by his parents, brothers and his youngest son Steven. He is survived by his loving wife Michelle, son Michael and 2 Granddaughters Elliana and Abby.
