

Degree in Architecture from the University of California, Berkeley and subsequently moved
to Bakersfield with his wife, Anne, to rebuild Bakersfield after the earthquake of 1952. Bob
worked for Wright, Metcalf and Parson and was instrumental in the design of the new Bakersfield
College campus "on the Hill". He formed a partnership with Frank Ghezzi in the mid 60's and then
joined with Biggar and Cartnal to become BFGC Architects.
Bob and Anne were blessed with the births of 3 daughters and 1 son. They both loved the Lord and
were instrumental in establishing Bible Study Fellowship classes in the Bakersfield area serving as
discussion leaders for many years. Bob was among a core of men who became the building committee
that built the original Fruitvale Community Church hosting many Saturday work parties. In addition, he
and Anne would open their arms and home to new people for the Sunday Brunch.
Bob was involved in many community organizations and served on the Bakersfield Planning Commission,
Bakersfield Community Concerts, Bakersfield East Rotary Club as well as numerous church plants.
He was called to his Heavenly Home by God on August 5, 2016. Among those who welcomed him to Heaven
were Anne, his wife of 53 years, and granddaughter, Jordyn. He is survived by Joan & Steve Mettler (Clovis),
Jan & Bill Black (Bakersfield), Judy & Bill DeNio (W. Granby, CT) and Jeff & Lauren Frapwell (Bakersfield) as
well as 12 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life will be held at River Lakes Community Church, 4301 Calloway Dr., August 15, 2016 at 11
AM with a reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, please consider donation to the Jesus Film Project, Voice of the
Martyrs, or World Vision.
