Born Jose Anastacio David Sandoval Duran in Albuquerque, NM on June 7, 1933, his parents brought him to Bakersfield, CA at age 8. His parents and siblings Viola, Juan, Petra, and Ralph worked hard as a family. His sister Annie was added to the family about the time he met and married his love and life-long partner, Gwendolyn Ball - the two were wed on January 5, 1953. David purchased their home in Arleta, CA in 1959, where he and his bride raised their four children, and helped in raising a granddaughter.
David worked very hard for his family and used that same energy to help others. Although he was hard on others, it was out of love even though it may not have come across that way at first - eventually many came to understand that "hard love". If not working at R&R Masonry, he was building custom masonry on the side, making creations of people's dreams.
When he wasn't fishing, traveling, or golfing, he could be found under the hood restoring classic cars. David lived life to the fullest, up to his passing on June 12, 2018 surrounded by loved ones. David is survived by his wife of 64 years, along with his children, Jeffery, Julie and Diana, as well as many grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his eldest son, David E. Duran, and siblings, Viola, Juan, and Petra, until the time we all meet again.
