David Gene Long, 44, passed away January 15, 2017 at Kern Medical Hospital in Bakersfield, California. He was born November 7, 1972, in Bakersfield. He was a 1990 graduate of Foothill High School. He grew up in the local bowling community, making them his family in addition to the large family he already had. He worked at local paint & body shops around town; displaying a wonderful knack for repairing old and damaged vehicles to like-new again.
David truly lived life to the fullest through simple pleasures; hanging out friends and family, bowling, barbecuing and drinking. He was not only a great story teller, but anyone he spent time with was fortunate to walk away with many stories to tell about him. David had an uncanny ability to reach people in a deep and positive way. He was a simple man with the biggest heart. Some knew him by David, some by Dave and some called him Bubba, but no matter what you knew him by, you knew he was gonna be there when you needed him the most. He was a drop everything to help others kinda guy and will truly be missed by many in a big way. He potentially will help a lot of people and possibly even save lives due to his generosity of being an organ donor.
He is survived by his brother, Bobby and many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles. He is preceded in death by his mother, Jackie Long and father, Toby Dutton. Family, friends, and others, whose lives David touched are invited to funeral service on January 25, 2017 at 2:00pm at Hillcrest Memorial and Mortuary 9101 Kern Canyon Rd Bakersfield, CA 93306
