Dennis graduated from Beardsley Junior High in 1971 and from North High School in 1975.
He loved any activity near the water. He was an avid swimmer and he was known for his strong butterfly stroke and earned metals for that special event. At one time he owned a boat and spent many hours in it with friends. His favorite sport was jet skiing and he became a perfectionist at it.
He worked in the oilfields a number of years and quit after he was injured. Later on he became a truck driver and traveled across many states delivering furniture and then changed to delivering mail to Los Angeles.
Dennis enjoyed his friends when they visited to shoot the breeze. He loved to cook, would barbecue his famous chicken and ribs and share with friends and family. He had a great sense of humor and kept everyone in stiches laughing at his jokes. Some of his fondest memories were vacation trips with family to the Rogue River in Oregon to salmon fish and trips to the coast to swim in the ocean.
Dennis was a devoted son and helped his mother endlessly as long as he was able too. He will be missed very much for all of his love and care, and generosity. He had been ill for some time and was looking forward to being well so he could live life fully again. Dennis leaves behind his mother Barbara L. Shearer, daughters Christa D. Shearer and Jennifer Y. Shearer, his sons Adam R. Goss Shearer and Dustin J. Shearer, sister Gail A. Thompson, brother Douglas C. Shearer and step brother James M. Shearer, Uncle Rev. Richard M Roth (Donna), nieces Rebecca Roth, Andra L. Shearer and Leslie Shearer nephew Daniel F. Thompson and many other nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind his special friend and helper Rick Baker and last his dog Missy.
Dennis was preceded in death by his father James C. Shearer, grandparents Forrest M. Roth(Paula) Mildred I. Woosley (Paul) brother in law Fred P. Thompson, nephews John and Stephen Roth and the love of his life, Christine.
Dennis always had a large dog. He would take them to the river or lake for a dip. Each of them lived to old age much to his credit.
