Dorothy LaVerne Perry

LaVerne Perry passed into heaven on January 17, 2015. She was born to Floyd and Verna Elms on October 28, 1942. LaVerne attended East Bakersfield High School, graduating in 1960. Her and her family were very active in church as she was growing up. She sang in the church choir and had the voice of an angel. LaVerne met her love, her husband, Donald Perry in July 1960 and they married on October 20, 1961. The two of them had three children, Debbie Perry, Don Perry II, and Dianna McSweeney (spouse Jim McSweeney). LaVerne loved her family, immediate and extended. Family was first in her heart and she gave her heart to all. She was always there for everyone whether it is for a late night talk, share some advice and thoughts or just to listen. She was always thinking of others and placing them ahead of herself. She was involved with each of her grandkids, being there from when they took their first breath and every day after loving and supporting them as they grew. She was the true meaning of family. LaVerne was an active member of The Stockdale Moose Lodge and obtained the honor of College Degree of Regents. She was also active with The Cruise For A Wish Car Show. She loved camping, traveling, cooking and playing Bingo. LaVerne had many friends and was loved by everyone she met. She always made time for everyone. LaVerne was preceded in death by parents Floyd and Verna Elms. She is survived by her husband of 53 years, her three children, eight grand children, and four great grand children, her sisters Barbara Nickell and Lori Silvius (spouse Jon Silvius), her brother Dale Elms (spouse Patti Elms) and many nieces and nephews. Thank you to the Kaiser Doctors, the Nursing Staff at San Joaquin Step Down Unit, Fresenius Medical Center nurses and techs, Gilbert from GEE Transportation and the in home nurses of Around the Clock nursing.
