Eddie William Bertrand, age 59, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his wife and children on Friday July 23, 2021. Eddie will be laid to rest at Hillcrest Memorial Chapel on August 6, 2021 at 1:00 p.m.

Eddie was born on July 25, 1961 in Bakersfield, California. He was the third child of five and the third son, of George and Eunice Bertrand. Eddie would spend the summers at his grandparent’s ranch in Caliente, California. As a young man Eddie learned the valuable life lesson that hard work pays off and took pride in the values instilled in him by his family. Eddie rode bulls in local rodeos when he wasn’t working on the ranch or causing trouble with his brothers. Many stories have been shared about the fun he and his brothers had and the memories they made. Eddie loved, spoiled and protected his little sister Lisa and was proud of the woman and mother she has become.

Eddie met his beautiful wife Brenda “Lucas” Bertrand of forty-two years in September of 1978. Their lifelong adventure began when they married on April 28, 1979 and were blessed with three beautiful children. Eddie was a dedicated husband and father who cherished his wife and children. In 1982 Eddie followed in his father’s footsteps and started his career as an Over the Road Transportation Engineer (as he liked to call it) better known as Truck Driver. Eddie spent forty years and many miles driving truck to provide for his family. Throughout his career his passion was hauling livestock. As his family began to grow with the birth of his first grandchild, he chose to become a local driver and started hauling propane.

Eddie was a wonderful husband, dad and pops full of love, mischief and laughter. He was a spontaneous man who refused to plan. Always an adventure when he was around, maybe a trip to an amusement park, a family get together or working around the house. We always enjoyed the adventure and with every adventure there is an amazing memory in all of us.

Eddie was preceded in death by his father George Fredrick Bertrand and his baby brother Robert “Robby” Bertrand.

Eddie is survived by his wife Brenda Bertrand. His mother Eunice Bertrand, brothers Billy Bertrand and his wife Sheri, Jimmy Bertrand and sister Lisa “Bertrand” Moyer and her husband Danny Moyer. His three children Eddie Brandon Bertrand, his fiancé Kristen Farmer, Tara Deann “Bertrand” Cruz, her husband Eddie Cruz, Michelle Roxann Bertrand and her fiancé Steve Taylor. Twelve beautiful grandkids Makayla Bertrand, Luke Bertrand, Arianna Cruz, Chloe Cruz, Vanessa Cruz, Jacob Cruz, Gavin Cruz, Jace Cruz, Bryson Bertrand, Raysen Wood, Brody Wood and Braylee Wood. Numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

We will truly miss his shenanigans and his constant ability to prove the narrative that he was as old as the youngest child in the room.
